Hi - I'm running Wordpress 4.5.4 and the theme seem to be working fine.  Is 4.6.1 supported and if so, should I update?  Thanks.

    Hello

Yes the live demo works on 4.6.1

    http://clapat.ro/themes/nerduck-wordpress/

However keep several things in mind:

the current theme version is 1.4

and visual composer >4.12 works with WP 4.6.1

Do a backup of the site anyway to be on the safe side.

    Thanks

    Thank you.

Thanks.  I'm having trouble finding where to download Nerduck 1.4...  I've been to your pages.  Is this upgrade not included? I mean do I have to repurchase?

  •  1,974
    Support replied

You don't have to repurchase it, if you re download the theme it will be 1.4

    Thank you.

Thanks - I was able to download.  2 questions:

    1. I was considering using a Child Theme to ease transition from Nerduck 1.1 to 1.4 - is that ok?  Or would you advise just to do everything manually?

    2. If you're ok with the Child Theme - this would be my first time doing one - do you have any advice beyond the instructions I'm seeing on wordpress.org?

  • Jesse replied

p.s. - I've done quite a bit of CSS modifications as well as javascript and some php to the theme...

Hi Jesse, you should definitely make the modification with a child theme

You can use the attached child theme as starting point.

    Thanks

    Thank you.

Ok - thanks.  When I download this it's just a text file... is that correct?  What am I supposed to do with it?

    This is what I'm getting:

Sorry - it was just an OS X glitch.  I was able to unzip it.  Is the idea to upload this to my server and use it as a starting point for the child theme?

  •  1,974
    Support replied

install the child theme in the same folder as with the parent theme

so nerduck-theme, nerduck child in /wp-content/themes/

    Thanks

    Thank you.

Thanks.  I've created the child theme on Nerduck 1.1, updated to Wordpress 4.6.1, and downloaded and installed Nerduck 1.4.

The problem is Nerduck 1.4 comes in as a totally separate theme, not an upgrade.  So the Child Theme does not recognize it.  How do I make the child theme work now with Nerduck 1.4?

  •  1,974
    Support replied

You need to reinstall the parent theme to the new version. Simply remove the old version and install the new one. Wordpress will look for 'nerduck-theme' folder to retrieve the parent. The folder name is the same for 1.1 and 1.4, it hasn't changed.

    Thanks

    Thank you.

Thank you.  Unfortunately we're coming up with an unexpected PHP debug output now, which is killing the theme:

Notice:  Undefined index:  clapat_ndk_show_preloader in /home/jesses7/public_html/wp-content/themes/nerduck-theme1.4/include/scripts-config.php on line 77

Notice:  Undefined index:  clapat_ndk_map_api_key in /home/jesses7/public_html/wp-content/themes/nerduck-theme1.4/include/scripts-config.php on line 95

I'm going to revert to 1.1, awaiting your reply.

  • Jesse replied

I tried changing the folder name to 'nerduck-theme' but problem persists, same error message.  Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.  Yes the site is live.  I tried your instructions a few times and the site either would hang or I would run into stylesheet loading problems that would lose my CSS.  I restored, and it's back up.

I'd really like to get this working on 1.4 as I have some jQuery I'd like to add, but want to do it on the more up to date version 1.4.  Can you please help?

Hello Jesse if you want to include files from child theme folder

    use

get_stylesheet_directory_uri  for  images or css files

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_stylesheet_directory_uri

    and

    get_stylesheet_directory

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_stylesheet_directory

    for php files

My experience as support is limited in terms of changing theme's files but I can put you in touch with the developer however there is a minimum of 50USD/hour fee

    Thanks

    Thank you.
