The URL for all portfolio items has "newave_portfolio" in it (ie: www.mysite.com/newave_portfolio/whatever-portfolio-title-is). How can I change the url slug to either delete it completely or just change it from the default value of "newave_portfolio"?

Hello,
You can change the portfolio slug in theme options -> portfolio options -> custom slug
and then refresh the permalinks in Settings -> Permalinks and press Save

Unless you are going to be using a redirect plugin

letting Google reindex the site is cleaner though (in my opinion, but I'm not a SEO expert)
