Just enter your own and after saving the changes go to Settings -> Permalinks and press 'Save' to refresh them. In order to completely remove it you may want to use a plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/remove-cpt-base/ When you chose a portfolio slug make sure it does not conflict with other slugs (for example a page 'Portfolio' that has the slug 'portfolio')Thank you.
