You can go to customizer -> portfolio settings to change the custom slug. Just enter your own and after saving the changes go to Settings -> Permalinks and press 'Save' to refresh them.
In order to completely remove it you may want to use a plugin:
Using the theme options you can only rename it. Probably there is a way to remove it since there are plugins doing that but this is custom work we need a thorough research before implementing it.
Regarding the plugin make sure quote "If you’re using Yoast SEO plugin, after you change something in the Remove CPT base plugin, you should deactivate Yoast SEO and activate it back again to refresh its yoast_indexable database table, so it will generate correct og:url, canonical url and JSON-LD urls."
Also always refresh the permalinks after doing any modifications by going to Settings -> Permalinks and press Save

How can I customize the central part of the URL for Portfolio pages on the WP Manifesto theme?
I want to change the part with "index.php/manifesto_portfolio" in red in the attached screenshot.
In the portfolio items page I can only personnalize the last part of the url.

Unfortunatly the plugin listed below is not working.
When I activate the plugin and assk to change the slug from the portfolio page, I received a 404 error.
It's not possible to modify or remove the "/manifesto_portfolio/" in the permalink without any plugin?
