We discovered that the problem was caused by a a category that had the slug 'portfolio' conflicting with the page that had the same slug. We changed the the portfolio category slug to 'portfolio-cat' and it appears to be working:

after the discussion I had with our web designer - the issue here are the webp images
they are still not compatible with all browsers, scripts and dynamic effects - not to get into too many technical details
Plz replace hero images from .webp formats to .jpg optimized for web
