Because you have smooth scroll disabled - when you scroll down in mobile devices and the bottom browser url bar will show up and the viewport will therefore change, making it impossible to detect the correct position for next autoload.
it happens on all mobile devices
We recommend enabling the smooth scroll in customizer -> general settings
Although it is a nice feature, the smooth scroll has to be disabled as it misbehaves on mobile devices. It feels unnatural and makes the user quit the website without visiting it, as opposed to the PC experience where it works flawlessly.
There has to be another solution, as this behavior is not right
Hi Lorenzo, if smooth scroll is disabled, as I mentioned, bottom browser url bar will show up and the viewport will therefore change, making it impossible to detect the correct position for next autoload. That's the main issue here
To avoid any issues again in the future, I may advise you to write a little TIP under the option to disable the smooth scroll. This may save you and some other users valuable time!
Anyway, I honestly prefer the smooth scroll option to be active, as it works so good. It feels unnatural on mobile devices just because it doesn't take into account the acceleration while scrolling. If you scroll fast or slow, it stops right when you remove your finger from the screen. Maybe in an update, this could be fixed?
It would be worse, as it is a big buggy on iOS with the URL bar...
Maybe you could improve the experience by taking the acceleration of the scroll into account. (for smooth scroll on mobile only)
It would be perfect as it isn't a "smooth" scroll on mobile without acceleration. I hope you will try it using your smartphone so you understand what I mean :)
Hi, I noticed on iOS 16 using Safari, going to the end of any Post it doesn't load the new one. See the attachments, it's crystal clear.

Hi Lorenzo, we can help you enable/disable smooth scroll only on mobile using the WordPress function wp_is_mobile()
