Multiple Portfolios

    Hi,

I want to create multiple portfolios using any of the presets as a template.

Essentially, my portfolio will include seperate sections with completely different sets of images in each section. In my case when the user navigates to the portfolio there will be 3 sections:

    1. Showreel - a page for videos
    2. Clients - only client work
    3. Personal - only personal work

What I would like to do do for these sections is use any of the portfolio templates you have created and duplicate them and then edit them accordingly.

From what I can tell you have only one portfolio which can be configured to different layouts. I want a fullscreen slider of images that are just teasers for the home page and then the portfolio has completely different images which are categorized as explained above. The portfolio sets would not necessarily contain the same images as on the home page slider. (But could be included if I chose to)

Is there any way to do that?

    Thankyou
    Ross

    Hi Ross,

The thing to know here is that each portfolio page template has the ability to filter portfolio items using portfolio category slugs in page options.

So you can display different categories with different templates

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I'm completely new to Word Press and I find it all very unintuitive. Are you saying that it is possible to achieve what I want to do? Could you give me more of a breakdown on how I would set it up please?

    1. So I would like to use the full screen slider for the home page with up to 10 teaser images. This is already set up to how I would like it.

    2. Portfolio 1 is of client projects using the classic portfolio template - this would be a seperate page.

    3. Portfolio 2 is of personal projects using the classic portfolio template - this would be a seperate page.

BUT in each portfolio I want the ability to filter seperately.

So client portfolio might have the following filters: advertising, branding, 3D and UI design for example

And personal portfolio might have the following filters: paintings, comic art, characters

Is it possible to set my site up like this?

    Thanks for your time.
    Ross.

    Hi,

Actually, no worries - I think I've figured it out. I'm more used to a Dreamweaver workflow so this Word Press setup is not that intuitive. All the options are not in the most logical of places with some strange terminology.

    Thanks.

    Hi Ross,

ok, what you need to keep in mind is that portfolio items are a custom post type that you can edit and that have their own set of options.

Each portfolio page template (Showcase, Portfolio Grid for example ) are designed to display portfolio items in different layouts

The portfolio category that you can define under admin -> portfolio is a custom taxonomy and is a way, obviously, to categorize the portfolio items

    That's pretty much it.smile.png

    Thank you.

Hi, you can use portfolio categories, every portfolio page template has a category filter that you can specify and will display only the items belonging to that specific category / categories.

    Thank you.
