I need to create a home page with content the same as the Showcase pages, but that does not have the possibility of horizontal navigation as it happens with the Showcase portfolio.
I have tried to use a portfolio item, but I have not seen the possibility of associating it as a home page and from here enter the Showcase. Would it be possible to do it?

My intention is this, a page with full image with text, explain showcase items and link to showcase with their magnificent navigation sliding via scroll button.
it can be done without custom work if you completely disable hero section and then add cover image full width with text overlay at the beginning of the page content.

I don't think you can set a portfolio item as home page but you can have a regular page as home page with a link to the showcase.
