The template seems to apply quite a strong darkening filter to the hero images. Can this filter be removed?

Hello Nick,
try adding
#hero-bg-image::after {
background: none;
}
in customizer -> additional CSS

Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
Thinking about this, I'm not sure it's the Hero Image. It's the large images in the Showcase page that are contained in each of the Portfolio pages. Does that make sense?
