the portfolio spaced grid has Portfolio as page template and Normal page has Default page template
You cannot actually mixed these two. The portfolio grid is programmed to display the portfolio items you have created in admin -> portfolio and the thumbnails in it are the hero images. Spacing the thumbnails it's a n option you can set for this specific template
Ok I know what you mean now. The slider links to portfolio pages only, you can link a slide to an external page with custom work but the portfolio item will still exist there (when you navigate with Next).
