Portfolio items giving us a 404 error message

    I've set up our site so that both the menu items and the portfolio images on the front page go to portfolio items. The server for our organization recently went down, but our IT dept was able to back it up to its most recent state. However, now we get a 404 error message when portfolio items are attempted to be loaded up. All of the images and text are still on the back end of the site, but preview gives us a 404. I tried copying and pasting the data onto a new portfolio item, and it worked before it was published, publishing it gave us a 404 again. 


    Please help-not sure what could be causing this.

    Hello Panayiotis 

    By the sound of it it looks like an issue with permalinks. Plz go to Settings -> Permalinks and press Save to refresh them. Make sure you don't get any error message when doing so.

    I tried this and it worked! How strange, I didn't change anything to save the permalinks but now they're all working.

    It's one of the WordPress mishaps that when you do an upgrade or migrate, for example you need sometimes to refresh the permalinks. Glad the issue has been fixed.
