WPBakery backend editor for this Portfolio item has disappeared, although the "classic mode" still works.

Backend editor for all other Portfolio items also work -- it's just this one page.

Do I need to purchase a license for Visual Composer in order to do this update? That's what it seems like it's telling me.

    I cannot manually update vc...

Yes, you need to remove it first. And then install the new version.

The Wp Bakery Page Builder (formerly known as Visual Composer) is shipped with the theme and has a shared license. This is why we are able to offer it for free. However, you don't have access to automatic updates.

You will either have to buy a full license or contact us to update it. We periodically release theme updates which contain the latest version of the plugin as well.

    Thank you.

I can simply uninstall VC and then reinstall it, with no issues? Can you give me a step-by-step process? I will do this ASAP!

  • Alexander Joo replied

I already backed up my site using UpdraftPlus, so just awaiting WPBakery reinstall instructions!

I successfully updated the plug in, but the problem still persists: the WPBakery editor is not there. It's happening for TWO portfolio items, "Les Tai Tai" and "Property Hub."

    Hi Alexander,

it looks like you have a pb with the content in those two portfolio items. When I edit one of them I get this error in js console:

    shortcode.min.js?ver=5.0.2:1 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'replace' of undefined    at Function.replace (shortcode.min.js?ver=5.0.2:1)    at vc.Storage.wrapData (backend.min.js?ver=5.6:1)    at backend.min.js?ver=5.6:1    at shortcode.min.js?ver=5.0.2:1    at String.replace (<anonymous>)    at Function.replace (shortcode.min.js?ver=5.0.2:1)    at vc.Storage.wrapData (backend.min.js?ver=5.6:1)    at vc.Storage.fetch (backend.min.js?ver=5.6:1)    at vc.Storage.findAll (backend.min.js?ver=5.6:1)    at n.sync (backend.min.js?ver=5.6:1)

I suggest to redo the content. You may still see it with the classic editor.

    Thank you.

Okay, I just took a few hours to re-do this page. It broke again in the same way, WPBakery isn't showing up in the backend. It was all working until I added the final BOOKS row (you can see it in the Preview).

Do you have any idea what could be doing this? If you can't fix it, that's fine, but I need to know what NOT to do so I don't waste any more time here.

Not sure, maybe because you're adding a section within a section and that does not work well with VC?
