Why does the layout in most pages included the porfolio pages where the page has been divided into two or more columns only get divided into those many columns when we reload the page? I've noticed this countless times but it doesn't happen all the time.
Add an empty VC row in your showcase page (the home page) content - this will trigger VC styles enqeuing of VC styles in the home page - the starting point of AJAX navigation.
OR
simply do not load the page with ajax - add the About page as custom link menu item in the menu
